Whatever happened to honesty?

15 02 2008

I’ve been liking the music of Amy Winehouse a lot. It’s fantastic. Her lyrics are very real, and even though her some aspects of her personal life that have been revealed and sensationalised on the media is kind of, for lack of a better word, colourful, she sings with honesty and the words speak of the sheer brutality of life. Whatever happened to reality in our music? Why do we enjoy songs that tell us the world and everything in it is fantastic, when it’s not really? We need the kind of music that speaks to us when we’re not feeling that the world is perfect.

Who are we kidding, anyway?
